The MapInfo-Control module integrates ConnectMaster with MapInfo as a MapX Object.
Integration strategy
The integration of MapInfo into Connect-Master offers to the users huge additional possibilities and functionalities in their management of telecommunication and cable networks. User friendly and easy to manage, the user will only be confronted with the necessary GIS functionalities.
Operating mode
MapInfo-Control can be fully integrated into ConnectMaster applications, or can be implemented as a mobile offline version using MapInfo Professional. The Integration leads to a complete working package. The user has no need to jump from one application to the other.
Coordinates system
The overall MapInfo coordinates system is accessible and at your disposal.
Map-Object
Administrate your maps with the Data-Object in the MapInfo-Geoset-Objects tool. Geoset-Objects is compatible with your actual Workspace environment.
Point-Object
Define and manage the diverse Point-Object classes (e.g. Man-hole, PoP, client location) easily with the TAB-Relation.
Line-Object
Administrate the geography of the ducts tracks and cables by means of the TAB-Relation. You will be able to manage, in ConnectMaster, all attributes as well as the physical and logical network elements.
Fast-Navigation tool bar
The Fast-Navigation tool bar give you the possibility of visualising the most important map information and to work with the Object-Function tool. Each and any object will be visible on the map. By clicking, a particular object, it will be focussed on the map. Information on your mouse pointer are automatically accessible. Beside the coordinates the object mane and the location information (if any) will be indicated.
Access from MapInfo to ConnectMaster
By means of simple Click on an object, you will open ConnectMasters quick view.
From the Quick view, all object information can be shown, treated and action can be taken e.g. filters.
Creation of Point-Objects in GIS
By positioning a new object in the GIS and choosing the ConnectMaster window, you will get all necessary parameters. The map information will be automatically copied into ConnectMaster. The viewing format would have been previously defined in the Object-Class.
Creation of Line-Objects in GIS
Line-Objects can be created and designed manually or automatically. Having selected end locations a polygonal line can be drawn between the locations and a ConnectMaster object created. Finally if is possible to get the system, drawing automatically lines between the locations.
The object information will be automatically transferred to ConnectMaster and saved as preselection, object definition and parameters.
Data management
To be able to guarantee a consistent data handling, the object attributes and by Point-Objects the geographic coordinates, will be administrated in the data bank. The MapInfo data comprises the objects with their geographical informations, the objects names and a ConnectMaster key.
Visualisation on ConnectMaster
ConnectMaster disposes by means of customisable filters the list of information, which could be exported. Taking advantage of such feature, e.g. defined location types can be placed automatically on the open map. The filter functions can be recursively modified. The data storage can be done in the MapInfo Tab-Data.
Ducts, cables and SDH sections can be imported as Line-Objects.
Search function
As a general rule, the search function is applicable for each and any object from the map. It is irrelevant for ConnectMaster if the information is a data or a map information type.
Distance measurement
Beside the normal distance measurement, the objects can be searched in a defined perimeter.
Multi level filtering
Frequently, only the characteristics of the ducts are indicated on the maps. But there is also a need to know, from the map, the characteristics of the cables running into the ducts and eventually the paths. By means of multi level filters it is possible to investigate the ducts and get them highlighted on the maps.
Drawing-Management
In the ConnectMaster drawing-management, all drawings, Geosets and objects informations will be administrated. Through such characteristic, it is at any time possible to find out on which drawing appears a specific object. It is, for the system, irrelevant in which graphic software package the information has been allocated. The drawings can be directly opened through the object quick view. Connect-Master will treat the request taking into account the original representation of the object.
Data set
The existing MapInfo-Data can be formatted and fully made compatible for the join activity with ConnectMaster data structure. The adoption of object functionalities is made possible through individual import filters.
